The Autism Society of America Baltimore-Chesapeake Chapter is a volunteer organization founded in 1976 to serve families of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders in Baltimore County, Maryland, Baltimore City, and the State of Maryland by providing information, advocacy, and support for families and individuals with autism.
Given the increasing statistics of the number of children afflicted with autism spectrum disorder (1 in 88), online resources are plentiful. The credibility of each, however, is variable.
The local chapter of the American Autism Society wanted to position itself as a hub for the most credible and timely information so its community of parents and care givers had a place to turn.
As a Board member and volunteer organization, our creative solution was to help the members be the "heroes" and allow them to tell their own personal story for why they got involved. In addition, we made it very clear that support, membership and donations were going to help the organization help its community of families affected by autism.
Primary colors and puzzle pieces were included as part of the navigation and brand elements, but the overall visual voice is professional, classy and clean to help reinforce the organization's desired brand.
