Client Spirits of Mt. Vernon, an upscale retail store selling wine, beer and liquor.
Audience Consumers who live, work or socialize in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood.
Marketing/Business Objective Introduce and brand the new store to both the neighborhood and potential customers as a quality, high-end source for wine and spirits.
Creative Strategy Spirits of Mt. Vernon opened in the summer of 2005 in a neighborhood both hip and historic. Their logo and identity were developed to reflect the setting, combining the contemporary look and feel of their newly renovated retail space with the historic architecture of the building and surrounding area. With the iconic Washington Monument in the background, the name of the store is set in a stylish, modern typeface which incorporates the shapes of wine and martini glasses to suggest the nature of the business. In addition to stationery and business cards, production efficiencies and the bold yet economical use of color allowed us to leverage their logo design to produce a variety of collateral pieces including notecards, gift tags, gift certificates and a postcard announcing the store's opening. This design is also applied to the store signage, allowing the store to stand out without sticking out in its architecturally sensitive environment.
